High Intensity Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation (UVGI) with

Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation (UVGI) has been used extensively for more than 40 years in professional medical and sterile work facilities in disinfectant applications related to drinking water, wastewater, air, pharmaceutical products, and surfaces against a wide variety of human pathogens, such as bacteria and viruses.

The efficacy of the technology and components utilized by AirPuriX has been validated in independent third party tests.
Photocatalytic Oxidation (PCO) technology is in extensive use for treatment of annoying odors, volatile organic compounds (VOCs) such as harmful gases, formaldehyde and benzene.

Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation (UVGI)

​Energy from the sun reaches us through electromagnetic radiation contained within a vast spectrum of wavelengths. This spectrum includes visible section (light) which we see as a rainbow of colors, each a different wavelength over the range of about 400 to 700 Nano meters (nm).

Starting at visible blue and extending to shorter wavelengths is the ultraviolet (UV) which is divided into ranges UV-A, UV-B and UV-C.  The short-wavelengths (UV-C), between 200 and 280 nm, is considered "germicidal UV" because of their ability to kill or inactivate microorganisms by disrupting their DNA and preventing the replication of necessary proteins, leaving them unable to further function.

​While the ozone layer blocks most of the Sun’s radiated ultraviolet light from reaching the Earth’s surface, we can produce the desired germicidal UV electromagnetic energy locally using UVGI generators at the specific wavelengths proven to kill or inactivate microorganisms such as molds, bacteria, and viruses. AirPuriX uses 254 nm generators that have the max UVGI energy per watt.​
